Like many teenagers, Chelsea Shorney loved putting on makeup in high school, according to the Eagle Bulletin. But unlike most teens, her passion for beauty and healthy skin was so great, it led her to move to New York City after graduation. While studying at the Atelier Esthetique Institute of Esthetics, she lived in a YMCA and soldiered on despite the deprecating remarks of others––many people said they wouldn't trust her to treat their skin because she was so young.
Frustrated, but not deterred, Chelsea earned her aesthetician's license when she was just 18, and was her own boss by age 22. Today at Chelsea's Esthetic Boutique, this young but determined business owner tailors her treatments to each client's skin type, doling out facials, microdermabrasion, and LED light therapy with a level of professionalism usually reserved for business owners twice her age. And, to deepen her knowledge of her craft even further, she also completed the I-TEC course, which allows her to practice and converse with faces in 30 different countries.
