The food at Soul is wonderful and made at the time it is ordered, so it is freshly cooked. On the downside, the food is cooked at the time it is ordered and there is only one cook, so be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Granted, it is delicious and is worth the wait, so don't be in a hurry.

My family and I enjoyed the food and my husband is picky. It was hot and not overcooked or over seasoned. Worth the drive and wait to get it. Just go before you're hungry!

Delicious food but depending on the server, customer service is poor. Long waits for food and abrupt, nonchalant attitudes from our server. We've gone 3 times and it's been the same each time.

The chicken was nothing special I liked the fried corn and the sweet potatoes It took way too long to get the food The staff is really nice and I love the building. I ate here once before and had the carnitas it was great. I wish I would have ordered that again.

Smothered pork chops with collards and mofungo, everything absolutely delicious. Husband had jambalaya which was full of meat and freshly cooked rice, very nicely seasoned and a huge portion. We both have leftovers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, we will be back soon to try the other enticing menu items.

From Our Editors

Soul Food

Chicken-fried steak: It's not some turducken-esque creation—the chicken refers to how the thin, tenderized cut of beef is prepared. It's fried like chicken, and often accompanied by country gravy.

Fried frog's legs: They really do taste like chicken.

Jambalya: This creole dish includes a bit of everything, but often includes rice, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and meat such as chicken, shrimp, and hot links.

Po' boy: Fried seafood is nestled on a baguette with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and rémoulade sauce.
