Very nice, very accomodating, but didn't have answers to some of the basic questions I had. She didn't seem familiar with different digital cameras (probably because she was used to film or her camera only) She had problems trying to figure out my Canon Digital Rebel which is a pretty basic DSLR in my opinion. She was unaware of what back button focusing is, which I feel you should know as a professional photographer. She was kind of all over the place, there was no plan or structure. I think this photographer would be good for people who completely new to photography with absolutely no idea what ISO, aperture, and shutter speed are. Then I think they would learn something, but I don't really think I did. Nice person though.

Let the photographer know what you want to learn. She is very personable & accomodating. And charge your camera's battery before class. Then she taught me techniques on my cell. Awesome class, awesome instructor!

From Our Editors

Though Amy Koontz Knippel’s resume teems with prestigious education and accolades—she possesses a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, was awarded the Visual and Media Artist Fellowship from the South Florida Consortium, and received the Millennium Cultural Recognition Award from the Florida Secretary of State—she’s not one to keep the secret of her talents to herself. That’s why she started Natural Photo Safaris: she knows that others love photographing the beauty of the world as much as she does, but might not possess her level of training. She leads groups out into the world to capture eye-catching sights in a range of photographic styles while she teaches guests the ins and outs of their own cameras. She instills the core principles of taking good pictures regardless of what kind of equipment her students wield, even catering to students with older-model cameras that take film.
