A friend and I were hoping to share dishes, so we asked the server for some guidance regarding portions sizes. She was unable to supply any guidance. As it turned out the portions were extremely generous (actually huge) and we took home a doggie bag of leftovers.

The food was expensive and other than the soup the food was just ok. I had salmon that was cooked well but apart from that the small salad and plain rice that came with it were not that appetizing. My girlfriends dish was also a very simple noodle dish that apart from the shrimp was just a few pieces of lettuce and noodles. Again, not very appetizing. Then given the price what we got was completely subpar compared to many other restaurants in the city since it was over $60 total value and we can eat like royalty at an Indian restaurant at yonge and eglinton (Banjara) for $30 total for two (for an equivalent meal)

For profit margin seemed steep for most of your dishes, especially for the crepe dish - there were hardly any chicken and shrimp either crepes that were served to us. It will be difficult for you to have repeat customers no matter how good your customer service is.

The staff is very accommodating. Everything appears to be made while you wait which I appreciate because the ingredients seem fresh and the food has not been sitting around for hours waiting to be reheated.

From Our Editors

Vietnam-born chef Lynn Hoang relies on family recipes and her own gustatory intuition as she recreates the memorable dishes of her childhood. At Ha Long Bay Bistro, she combines southern Vietnamese cooking learned from her mother with northern Vietnamese flavours from her grandmother, creating what the Toronto Star has called "a streamlined menu of homey dishes."

The simmering curries exude fragrant aromas of coconut milk, taro, and sweet potato, lending a creamy richness to their fillings of tofu, chicken, or shrimp. Fresh spring rolls invigorate palates and prepare them for tender fillets of lime- and mint-marinated Atlantic salmon or grilled quail.

The modern dining room also bridges the gap between casual and refined. China plates glazed a light jade green contrast with warm, orange walls and gleaming black tabletops. Light floods through the front wall's floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the space more naturally than the usual candelabrums full of bioluminescent jellyfish.
