Masterminds has been in operation since 1999 and is conveniently located in the heart of Cahaba Heights. As a locally owned tutoring company, we are deeply embedded in the surrounding school systems and communities. We strive to provide students with personalized attention based on their individual needs, learning style, and personality. Instead of trying to fit the student into the mold of a pre-written curriculum, our qualified tutors assist with the student's immediate academic needs and long-term goals. We require no commitments or contracts and no minimum number of visits.
Most times, the one hour per day in class that a student is receiving in school is not enough to fully grasp difficult material. Other times, extracurricular activities make sticking to a homework schedule difficult. Students find that time spent at Masterminds helps them conquer their workload in much less time than they could at home on their own. Whether your student is struggling to pass a class or is looking to maintain straight A's, Masterminds can help them excel. We offer tutoring to all 6th-12th grade students. There are two types of tutoring to choose from: Standard (two students per tutor) or Private (one on one). Sessions last one hour and are booked on the half-hour, beginning at 3:30 P.M.
Standard Tutoring (two students per tutor)
$45.00 (per hour)
Private Tutoring (one on one)
$60.00 (per hour)
Masterminds Act Prep
A student's ACT score is a major factor in determining educational opportunities
whether your student is looking to meet admissions requirements or be more competitive for scholarships. The ACT is unlike most tests students normally take in school. It is not a comprehensive final exam. The ACT is primarily a logic-based test rather than an information-based test. Consequently, studying for the ACT is a much different process than studying for a regular test.
Masterminds' proven curriculum is taught over the course of four sessions, each session lasting 2-3 hours.
To accommodate busy schedules, we offer four convenient time slots to choose from: two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The student selects one of the four times and comes at that same time each week. The course concentrates on a different section of the ACT each time. Teachers work very closely with each student to develop a strategy specific to the student's needs. After completing the four week course, the student is given the opportunity to put these new methods into practice by taking a full-length practice test. Detailed scores and analysis are provided via email before the ACT test on Saturday.
Each session is taught in a small, distraction-free setting with only two students per teacher.
Students are paired based on similar scores from a previous ACT test. If your student qualifies for additional time, we require the course be taught privately.
$300 deposit due before first session; $325 balance due by the end of the course.
Private Course Fee
$400 deposit due before first session; $425 balance due by the end of the course If for some reason the student must reschedule a session, we offer make-up classes on weekdays after school. The fee to reschedule is $75.
