Choreographer Lesha Montoya has spent countless hours teaching dance steps to performers in film and TV, including contestants on So You Think You Can Dance and actors in Dance With Me. Though these projects have certainly led to a busy schedule, she's also found time to work with homeless and displaced high-school students. Today, Lesha draws from more than 20 years of experience to coach would-be performers of all skill levels at Shutup-N-Dance, her teaching studio.
Regardless of the style she's introducing, Lesha demonstrates that dance can be a fun, social experience. This casual attitude helps her coach kids as young as 6 years old in styles ranging from hip-hop to ballet to proper form on tantrum pirouettes. Alternatively, adults practice the steps of classical ballroom, Argentine tango, West Coast-style swing, and salsa. At certain times throughout the year, Lesha expands her course offerings to include dance-fitness fusion classes for women and workshops in nightclub-dancing.
