So, European pastries are hard to find Va Beach. Usually the texture is all wrong and they are way too sweet. Not with Oma's. Its the first time I've found something even close to real German baked goods. The hazelnut chocolate bread was amazing! The cookies were delightful. They were the real deal. If you want to see what eating baked goods in Germany is like this is your best bet! They were courteous and delivered my order on Saturday morning.

I love marzipan. I have been known to fly to Germany to feed my craving. Oma's baked goods saved me a trip! And, though I didn't feel like sharing, I did, and my friends' reviews were similar to mine. Danke sehr, Oma!

I guess the only so called problem is the communication with the company. After we got the coupon details sorted out and I was able to order it was great. Then the communication of when it will actually be delivered could be better. As far as taste this pastries are so very very good. Will definitely order again from Oma's.

Wow! I am in love with Oma's pastries! After hand-delivering them to my door, I cut into an almond pastry and poured a second cup of coffee to enjoy the rest of my morning. What a delight! I was taken back to Germany when my mother and I would enjoy a late afternoon dessert in a bakery. I wish she was still alive to enjoy Oma's. Thank you for joining Groupon: I didn't know what I was missing!

I am of Germany decent..as a little girl I use to watch my Grandmother bake these pastries. I strongly recommend this web site. They were very supportive... they even delivered to my home. I got the almond sweet bread...this is in the freezer(looks great). The chocolate almond, hazelnut squares..so yummy...the almond horns wonderful...just like Grandma's. A little pricey for what you get...but it is worth it. This is a family run business... I give them high marks for passing on their German culture. I will be calling them again.

Delivery is $7 outside of VA Beach even though their website will charge you $4 and you'll have to pay the difference separately. I have never really tried German baked treats before and I bought this to fulfill a sweet tooth craving. The delivery was prompt (next business evening) and the goods are well-packaged. I just did not like the sweets themselves, I think they need to be dipped in hot chocolate or coffee because they are bland and have weird unnatural taste by themselves. This is a matter of personal preference, I'm sure lots of other people like them. I think I would be better satisfied buying Angel cake and whipped cream and cherries at Walmart but that's just me.

From Our Editors

Vanillakipferl. Mandelhörnchen. It's not surprising if you haven't heard of these German baked goods as they can be somewhat hard to find in the United States. In fact, one German family in Virginia Beach missed their favorite German pastries so much that they decided to open a bakery specializing in them.

Now at Oma's, they make vanillakipferl (crescent-shaped almond cookies dusted with sugar), mandelhörnchen (chewy marzipan-filled pastries topped with almond slivers and chocolate), and other German treats.
