I had a lots of trouble with this service provider, and I will put my feedback in Yelp and Tripadvisor. First it advertised that the tour will be available on Sat and Sun, when I tried to book one on Sunday, there was none. I complained to Groupon, and the customer service helped me to sort it out. Still, I was told to book on Saturday to start with. After quite a few emails back and forth, I was finally put on a tour for today. I arrived at the meeting point as arranged, there was no tour guide. So I telephoned the no. provided and was told there is no one in the office, it is only an answering service and I need to contact them on Monday, the best they could do is to send an email to tell the co. that I am not happy. So, I hopped back into the car to drive home. On my way home, got a telephone call from the company and was told that the meeting place had changed and was 2 blocks away from 13th St. I said that is not on, it stated clearly in the confirmation email where the guide suppose to meet me. So, I turn around and drove back to U street the original meeting point. On my way walking there, I saw a guide with the sign CapitolCity DC Tours, Cherry Blossoms Stroll. So, I said to him, I am looking for the guide for the U Street Tour. He said that was him and the meeting place is not at 13th Street. I said the confirmation email said it was. He said he does not care what the email said. Great! He started by collecting the Groupon vouchers, which was fine, but I already provided the groupon number via email. He did not introduce his name, did not give a talk about the history of U Street, he show us the Black American History Museum, the statute outside U street metro, the Howard Theatre, the shop where a lady defended her business (a card shop), where Duke Ellington used to play, Ben's Chilli Bowl and Ben's next door. At one point he was confused about the 1900's riot and the 1960's riot. In Howard Theatre, he pointed to the statute on top (a trumpet player and said he was Duke Ellington, I think Duke Ellington was a piano player and not a trumpet player) I could have done the heritage trial myself. I personally think Marcello (he gave us his name at the end of the tour) was not trained well, he has a folder with photos. The poor guys tried but I don't think he is that knowledgeable. I asked him what was the hand statute at the front of Ben's next door is, he kept saying the hand point to the sign Ben's Next Door, I can see that. There must be some significance,as the hand was also in front of Busboy & Poet in town and in a park in the neighborhood. Very disappointing, I will not use their service again.
