They could lower the lights a bit!

I've been several times and enjoy this spot for HH, dinner, or as a night spot. Unfortunately, the servers often seem overloaded and stretched, as they disappear for long periods of time without checking in. And while it's always good, food is often brought out cold or lukewarm--not as if it cooled off, but as if it was almost never hot or heated up. I have sent back several dishes for reheating (2 of 4 last night). Otherwise, it's a great spot with a nice vibe that could benefit from a tad better lighting. :-)

Service wasn't up to par with the classy atmosphere. Server made several mistakes and did not keep checking in with table. We were not alerted the kitchen was about to clothes. Actually, the server told us we ordered too many tapas and should split our order to get more plates later, and 5 minutes later the kitchen closed. Bad advice!

From Our Editors

Chef Will Vivas was raised in a restaurant. His mother ran a small eatery out of their home in Venezuela, an experience that left him with a passion for culinary arts. At Recess Tapas Lounge, Chef Vivas flexes his cooking muscles and pays homage to his home country with a menu of Latin-inspired tapas dishes. He stuffs his own chorizo sausage and pairs it with double-fried green plantains, showcases pan-seared scallops on a platform of pesto risotto, and arranges chicken croquettes on small plates. When the kitchen grills cool off, a DJ heats up in the lounge with late-night tunes and games of vinyl frisbee. Patrons enjoy the food and good cheer amid the interior’s colorful lighting, from the blue backlit panels on the wall to the purple bar lights and rectangular deep-red fixtures that dangle from the ceiling.
