From Our Editors

With the increasing popularity of craft beer, breweries have been springing up around the country left and right. Starr Hill Brewery isn't one of those places. It opened nearly 20 years ago in Charlottesville and moved to its current spot near the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2005.

Over the years, Starr Hill has churned out one award-winning brew after the next, earning the brewery 21 medals from the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and Great British Beer Festival. One brew, the white IPA Whiter Shade of Pale, claimed the gold medal at the World Beer Cup in 2014.

Starry Hill Brewery's fans can try the facility's next potential gold medalist while visiting its tasting room, which pours house and seasonal brews from 16 taps, or they can get a look behind the scenes during weekend tours of the brewery. They can also pick up Starr Hill suds at various locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.
