From Our Editors
When Elks 797 Golf Club opened in its original form, in 1960, owner Wayne F. Cox built it almost entirely by hand. However, when the ownership changed hands, the course became both a community fixture and a community effort. The new owners soon expanded the course from 9 holes to 18 and strove to make sure it was a course that anybody could play. The 6,119-yard course that stands today features four sets of tees friendly to all experience levels, plus signature features such as a pair of ponds and a partial island green on the 12th hole.
