In 2002, Kim Celaire spotted a 1960s Schwinn tandem bike at the antique shop where she worked, and it ignited her imagination. After buying and restoring it, she and her husband Chad spent hours riding the bike throughout Winnipeg, listening to jazz on their bike radio. Now, they share the sport that strengthened their own bond through their business, Bee2Gether Tandem Bike Rentals & Sales. Its fleet—available for rent or sale—encompasses a variety of novelty bikes, ranging from traditional tandems to buggy-style rides, whose bucket seats and steering wheels are similar to those of a car or late-model horse. Before patrons hit the road, staffers can happily proffer tips on scenic local routes, which wend through Whittier Park and follow Lyndale or Waterfront Drives.
