service can be slow, but it's well-worth the wait

The food that we ultimately got was OK, but the service was outrageously slow and discombobulated. We have told everybody to stay away from this mess.

Samosa house has been changing the rules of groupon which already printed at the time of the purchase. They are still available if Groupon staff goes and checks it. In the original offer by gorupon it clearly said marinated lamb sukhar ($11.49) and marinated chicken pocket with onions, tomatoes, and cheese ($4.49). Otherwise the claim by Groupon up to a $54.94 value with of meals for 4 people would not be realized. Samosa House staff told us they removed those from the list afterwards even if tehy exist in the original offer. It does not make any sense at all and I blame Groupon allowing such a scandal and not acting on it. They are also the only restaurant who charge tax on top of already not fulfilled lsit of menu items.

The purpose of a groupon is to get customers to try your restaurant and entice them to return. Service was slow, food was ok, portions were half. All the dishes were the exact same except for the protein. You don't give the groupon customers smaller portions and expect them to return. I won't be back.

everything is cooked from scratch so you have to allow time for preparation.

The food is quality. They hand-make everything and it is run by just two people, so I don't mind the wait. This survey and my answers don't accurately reflect how good the food was, nor how likely I am to go back. Feedback: Wider menu and a way to serve the food faster. There has to be *some* pre-prep that can be done.

The food is excellent but basic restaurant management is absent. The first time I went for lunch there was an hour wait for our order although only one other table of customers. Customers need to be acknowledged/greeted upon arrival but the only staff member was in the kitchen so we waited 5-10 minutes before we could place our order. One couple actually came, waited and left without ever being acknowledged. This restaurant will not be successful unless it improves customer service.

From Our Editors

After Somali militias destroyed the Hassan family's perfume store, they decided to push through their poor luck and open a restaurant. This was no easy task: Because the streets of Mogadishu weren't safe for women, sisters Amina and Hawa Hassan would do the cooking, then send food to the restaurant in the morning. Unable to make sandwiches fresh, they put a Somali slant on the calzone, which a customer named the “min.” The name translates to “bomb” in the Somali language, in honor of the item’s heft and powerful flavor.

Since moving to the United States in 1996, things have become easier for Amina and Hawa. Samosa House bustles with people who chat over the calzone-style minato with ground beef and fresh veggies. The menu centers on Somali dishes, which blend culinary influences from India, the Middle East, and Italy, but also includes less traditional vegetarian and chicken options. After polishing off a steaming curry, diners congratulate Amina on her reputation as a star samosa maker for local fundraisers.
