Today, Groupon welcomes SideTour, an online marketplace where people can discover, book or host amazing experiences. SideTour brings tremendous value to GrouponLive in enhancing the hyperlocal side of our offerings, as it delivers fun, new and uncommon ways for people to enjoy and explore their cities.
From “Marvel at Famed Architectural Wonders in Morningside Heights” to “View Chicago’s Public Sculptures Through the Eyes of An Artist,” SideTour handpicks events that are off the beaten path. SideTour connects customers with passionate and creative hosts who want to share their talent and knowledge. These hosts are uniquely qualified to lead each experience and include chefs, artists, Olympic medalists, casting directors, sommeliers, retired engineers and many others.
The groups are small, typically averaging 12 tickets per event, and span across food, drink, architecture, history, art and much more. Customers purchase tickets online on SideTour’s website by selecting an event, date and time, and receive follow-up confirmation with location details.
“The addition of SideTour’s curated local experiences furthers our vision of Groupon as the go-to place for consumers to find anything, anywhere, anytime,” said GrouponLive General Manager Greg Rudin. “By offering these highly personalized activities, tours and memorable things to do through Groupon, we can deliver even more fun ways for our customers to interact with the places they live and visit.”
Currently operating in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC,SideTour has plans to expand to major cities throughout the country and around the world. The site will continue to operate separately as we work together to leverage our shared resources, talents and offerings. SideTour’s team will remain in New York, where they’re headquartered.
