Amazon Prime Pantry: Save on Groceries and More

Dec 14, 2018

It seems as though Amazon is always announcing some new or improved Prime member benefits. It’s sort of like Christmas morning with new benefits and perks year-round. And with perks like Amazon Prime Video and Prime Music becoming more popular, it’s time for a new and improved present: Amazon Prime Pantry.

What is Amazon Prime Pantry?

Prime Pantry is an online store full of non-perishable groceries and household products at lower price points that’s just for Prime members. Many of the products aren’t widely available via Amazon, and there are always exclusive deals and coupons throughout the Pantry store.

How Does Prime Pantry Work?

With thousands of items, Prime members can buy everyday items like toilet paper, cereal, and shampoo. But instead of fighting traffic and lugging around heavy grocery bags, shoppers just browse and click to fill up an Amazon Prime Pantry box to be shipped to their home.

Does Prime Pantry Have Free Shipping?

Kind of! Shipping is free on orders of $35 or more. If an order comes in under $35, there’s a flat $5.99 fee.

There’s also a Prime Pantry membership for just $4.99 per month. That small fee gets members free shipping on all orders of $10 or more.

Prime Pantry vs. Amazon Fresh

The services are similar, but there are key differences:

  • Amazon Fresh’s expanded inventory includes fresh produce and other perishables that aren’t available in Prime Pantry orders.
  • Amazon Fresh offers same-day and next-day delivery. Prime Pantry arrives in 1–4 business days.
  • Prime Pantry is free with Prime membership, and Amazon Fresh costs $14.99 per month on top of the Prime membership fee.
