BY: Lauren Leffel | Dec 11, 2018

Fruit cocktails, summer cocktails, summer drinks

Summer is OFFICIALLY here, which means it’s time for Friday nights on your porch with a fancy cocktail and some not-so-fancy friends. Intern Skip and my team here at Groupon Coupons have some great ways for you to stay hydrated and libated this summer. Anne: Kalimocho It's like a red wine spritzer meets sangria … or something. Hails from Spain. Sounds very weird, but it's very good. Best to choose a flatter type of red wine, and add some mint if you want.
  • Ingredients: Red wine and Coke over ice
  • Instructions: Drink (or throw away) one half of a 1.5 L bottle of Coke. Then simply pour the wine into the bottle, slowly, so that it gets full. Do not shake the bottle, but simply turn it over a couple of times.
Gayle: Watermelon Frosé Refreshing and nice for social gatherings on hot days.
  • Ingredients: Watermelon, rosé, whatever else your heart desires
  • Instructions: You just cut watermelon up into cubes and freeze it, then blend it up with a dash of rose and whatever else your heart desires
Jolene (& Joe): Pimm's Cup
  • Ingredients: 1.5 parts Pimm's No. 1, 2 parts the new ginger ale-lemonade mix or Squirt
  • Instructions: Mix and garnish with any/or all: cucumber, lemon, strawberry, mint
Intern Skip: Negroni I will always think of the stretch of time between Memorial Day and Labor Day as Negroni Season because of this essay
  • Ingredients: Equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth
  • Instructions: Garnish with an orange twist. If you keep the proportions the same you can scale the drink up or down depending on how insanely your boyfriend is acting!
Melissa: Sparkling balsamic cooler (her own recipe!)
  • Ingredients: 1 tbsp. fruit balsamic, 4 oz. sparking water, white wine to taste, 3 sliced balsamic marinated strawberries, ice
  • Instructions: Combine in any order, and enjoy!
Sandy: Tequila Sparkler This is SO easy and SO delicious and you're going to want grapefruit simple syrup in a mason jar in your fridge all year 'round.
  • Ingredients: 1 oz. tequila, 0.5 oz. homemade grapefruit syrup, (1 grapefruit juice and zest, 0.5 cup water 0.5 cup granulated sugar) 2 oz. chilled Prosecco
  • Instructions: In a champagne flute add the tequila and grapefruit syrup. Top with chilled Prosecco. Garnish with a grapefruit segment.
Kevin (& Scott): Four-Season Water I really like water. Such a summer time drink, but you can also drink it anytime of the year.
  • Ingredients:  Six cubes of ice, 8 oz. of water
  • Instructions: Fill glass with cubes, and slowly add the water
Carolyn: Aperol spritz
  • Ingredients: 4.5 oz. brut Prosecco, 2.5 oz. Aperol, 1 lime wheel, 1 oz. club soda
  • Instructions: Pour the Prosecco into a Collins glass filled with ice. Add the Aperol and lime wheel, and top with club soda.
