Today we've got a truly delicious special. We're offering a Family Style Monday meal at Sapori Trattoria, Chicago's renowned Italian restaurant, for just $15. This Monday special usually costs $21 - and that's already an enormous discount off their high quality menu, so today's value is particularly outstanding. You get any 2 appetizers, 2 items off the soup & salad menu, 3 entrees and 1 dessert. Hot diggety dog! Check out the Family Style Mondays page and scroll down to view the menu.
Saporri Trattoria has a wonderful ambience and world class food. But unlike those upscale restaurants with huge bills & small portions, the portions here are generous and the prices are affordable (especially with today's discount). Don't take our word for it: listen to some rave customer reviews on GetFave.com and on Yelp. Saporri has been reviewed 117 times on Yelp (that's a lot) and maintained a crazy-high rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Check out all the reviews here, including these highlights:
"My favorite restaurant in Chicago."
"Best italian in the city. You cannot go wrong with any dish here. Service is stellar and the owners love and appreciate their patrons."
"Growing up with great Italian food everyday has made me an Italian food snob. So, I never expect good food at an Italian restaurant. I have always heard great things about Sapori so I thought I would check it out. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything we ordered was top notch. I ordered the lobster Lobster Cappellaci and my buddy ordered the ossobuco. Both dishes were delicious."
And what's fun about Family Style nights is that all the dishes are served on elegant trays in the center of the table, leaving it up to you and your companions to determine with what amount of civility you'll proceed. Family Style Mondays tests how social beings will act when the social mores that govern our actions are stripped away. Normally we know to eat what is on our plate, but what happens when all the food is in the middle of the table and we're expected to serve ourselves? Will chaos or order ensue when the delicious plates of Fresh Clam Linguini and chicken breasts stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and asparagus are set in front of you?
It's possible that this moment of potential chaos will be followed by a well-mannered, traditional family style dinner, where courteous requests to pass the serving trays around the table are met with kind, prompt responses. However, your intense urge to eat Chicago's tastiest homemade pastas will more likely result in you ignoring their despairing cries as you pin them to their chairs while furiously slamming down meatballs upon meatballs.
Yep, it's probably going to look something like a rugby scrum. Wear something on your ears, because in a rugby scrum they try to rip at your ears to get an advantage - and your companions are going to want an advantage when it comes to getting at that homemade Panna Cotta desert. And wear a hatchet-proof vest, because in the ugliest of rugby scrums they try to hatchet your chest. Or, play it cool if you have it in you. Whatever path you choose once the steaming food hits the table, we won't judge you either way. Just get your Groupon and live your life as you see fit.
To clarify, each TABLE (not each person) picks 2 appetizers, 2 items from the soup & salad menu, 3 entrees and 1 dessert. The portions increase based on how many people are at the table. Up to 20 people can sit at the same table and all redeem their own Groupon discount. Certificate cannot be combined with any other offers.
And as reminder for those of you who've been hiding in your holiday caves the last couple weeks, there are still a couple of good deals on some fitness related discounts we featured last week that are still open til the end of the day today. Check out the $18 off on Beginner Yoga Classes at Moksha Yoga and Free Body Fat Test from My Fitness Company.
Inspired by his experience on his grandfather's southern Italian farm, Sapori Trattoria's chef Anthony plates traditional Italian cuisine. Both upscale and casual, the restaurant surrounds its classical dishes with unassuming decor, from the outdoor patio's parasols and strings of lights to the indoor dining room's billowed curtains, saffron tablecloths, and skateboard half-pipes.
