Annoyed with the comic cliches of the "single lady," "the girlfriend" and, ugh, "the crazy girl," stand-up comedians Katie Hannigan and Corinne Fisher decided to shift focus away from played-out stereotypes and back onto the truly funny stuff: real life. In The Comedienne Project, there are no jokes about dating, sex or feminine hygiene. Freed from cheap laughs, invited comics can riff hilariously on a world beyond sex, sexual orientation and sexual reproduction organs. After each set, Hannigan and Fisher will give the performers a score from 1-10 based on how well they adhered to the rules. A FringeNYC hit, Comedienne Project now comes to The Standing Room.
