Rascal Flatts is bringing the country funk to Chicago on July 18. Hear the sultry stylings of the Flatts from the 3639 Wrigley Rooftop (plus all you can eat and drink) for just $79. 3639 Wrigley Rooftop has great views for Cubs games and somewhat obstructed views for Sox games. It should be noted that from the rooftop, you can’t really see the stage for concert performances (located in center field). But there’s a reason why people consistently pay to see concerts from the rooftops.

When you go to a mega concert like this, unless you get there the night before with a tent, you’re probably not going to be close enough to the stage to really see what’s going on. In fact, you’ll probably have a very distant view, but still be packed shoulder to shoulder with other fans, doing your best to stand on your toes and peer around tall dudes.

The big-concert feeling is almost more about experiencing the spectacle of thousands of people enjoying music together, feeling the excitement of the beginning of a song like “Hey Hey, It’s The Rascals.” The emotional rollycoaster of live arena rock moves from joyous shrieks to cathartic tears when the soulful melancholy of a song like “What Hurts the Most is When the Sand Runs Out” is magnified a thousand times as it resonates through each fan’s heart, reflecting off the rafters back through everyone’s hearts yet again, creating an echo chamber of bittersweet, heart-piercing euphoria.

The point is, you don’t have to be close enough to see Mr. Flatt’s unsightly belly sweat to experience that feeling. And also it’d be nice to grab a drink without missing the best five songs from Rascal Flatts Greatest Hits Volume 1 while waiting in line. That’s why the rooftop concert experience is so perfect. You get that exciting collective experience and can hear the performance as if you were in Wrigley bleacher seats. But instead, you can comfortably socialize with your friends, quickly access unlimited food and drinks, and use the bathroom in under 60 seconds. Get a group of friends together (buy up to eight tickets to each show) for this one-of-a-kind concert experience.

3639 Wrigley Rooftop piles fun onto an already heaping fun mound with a country-western BBQ theme and a raffle, where you can win a mini-iPod, Rascal Flatts CDs, or dinner cruise for two on Chicago’s Odyssey Cruise Line.

Wrigley's Transformation into a Concert Venue

Since Andre Dawson’s 1987 MVP season, Wrigley Field has been considered the preeminent concert venue in the country (by some people). The Hawk (a nickname teammates gave Dawson after learning of his love of hunting nearly extinct birds) began the 1987 season in an enormous slump and demanded that Cubs management either trade him or succumb to his superstitious slump-busting request: daily pre-game Earth, Wind & Fire concerts in the team clubhouse.

The team met his demands, but after only three weeks of playing uplifting pop music in a confined space, the band came up with its own request: a retractable, concert-grade stage in center field. The band’s wish was granted, which helped Andre Dawson hit 49 home runs while getting caught stealing only three times, marking the beginning of Wrigley’s reputation as the awesomest place to see Earth, Wind & Fire and the subsequent glorious musical acts to come.

About 3639 Wrigley Rooftop

Peering directly over Wrigley Field's right-center-field wall, 3639 Wrigley Rooftop unites baseball with stunning views of the historic diamond and refreshments. Rather than resorting to such desperate measures as donning a ghillie suit and hiding in the outfield ivy, fans can kick back in comfy stadium-style seats and enjoy the action from high above Sheffield Avenue.

3639 Wrigley Rooftop’s multilevel facility, located between the foul poles, is fully stocked with 40 high-definition TVs. During the game, burgers and brats hit the sweet spot from a loaded menu that also features desserts and soft drinks. An elevator ferries guests among the three levels, and two large, open-air decks and a climate-controlled clubroom help mitigate Chicago's alternating five-minute heat waves and blizzards.
