Cactus Bar & Grill is a centrally located, solid drinking, eating & socializing establishment for those of you looking to have a fun time after work in the Loop. Today we're featuring $50 gift certificates to Cactus for just $20 - a 60% savings. Close the Board of Trade - it's party time!
Cactus' drink menu features specialty cocktails including a tasty variety of margaritas, as well as a solid lineup of domestic & imported beers - sure to include something to your liking. Cactus regulars are a young, party-loving crowd. It's like Cheers for Chicago's day traders - except that instead of Cliff and Norm you have attractive young people looking to enjoy some award-winning chicken wings, drinks, and each others company. All the privileges of adulthood.
Did we say award-winning wings? Yes we did. They've won best wings in the Chicago Wingfest categories of "Hot" and "BarBQue", and placed strongly in the "Mild" category as well. See? The hot wings are the true specialty here, featuring Cactus' own Death Valley Hot Wing Sauce, which pleased CenterStage Chicago reviewer Karl Klockars, who said "the solid kick from the "world famous" Death Valley Sauce pleased my admittedly picky wing palate."
TMZ fans, know this: there are regular celebrity sightings at Cactus, including but not limited to the multiple sightings of former Chicago Blackhawks star and upstanding adult, Denis Savard. No joke. You never know who you might see any given night at Cactus. We wouldn't be surprised to see anyone from Jimmy to Warren Buffet in this Margaritaville trader haven. You'll probably also spot younger, hotter celebrities like Brangelina because we hear they like wings, margaritas and 60% discounts. Who doesn't?
Now, we realize that Cactus is the source of great debate amongst Chicagoans. For some people, Cactus is their daily hang-out: a great social spot with solid bar food, good drink specials, great cocktails and attractive peers. However, if your after-work fun-time consists primarily of quietly drinking tea at home while knitting & listening to folk music, Cactus might not be your cup of chamomile. This is really more for the drop it like it's hot crowd. Like it's a hot, subprime mortgage stock bundle in the summer of '05. Yep, that crowd. So if you still take great pleasure watching the scenes in Nerds where the nerds triumph over the preps, you might not experience that same feeling of triumph at Cactus.
But brilliance often inspires the kind of broad range of highly polarized, love-hate reactions that we see with Cactus (as evidenced by their Yelp page). Many people called Einstein a fool, some said Joplin's voice sounded like a barking dog, and in his early years some even insisted that Lincoln was short. Cactus also has its detractors, even within the Groupon office, which is divided between Cactus fans & foes. But after arguing over it we decided we just had to feature this great deal & let the people decide. No Groupon is for everyone, but we're confident many of you out there may just find your new hang spot today. So if you're looking for a fun time with some great drinks at a convenient central location in the South Loop - you can't beat Cactus, certainly not when you consider today's amazing deal.
At 404 S Wells St, Cactus's central location is close to the L, as well as Metra and Amtrak - very convenient for getting home safely after you redeem your Groupon on a great many margaritas.
