What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Fixed and predictable routines are the enemy. We train in a gym and we use some objects that are found in a gym, but we do not train for the gym. The specialty of CrossFit is to not specialize in any one movement or routine. Through constantly varied programming, your experiences are diversified.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
At 5th Gear CrossFit, you are encouraged to track your daily progress in real, measurable terms. Recording times and workloads consistently over time results in evidence-based fitness which allows you to see real progress and improvement through both changes in your body as well as gaugeable data.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Susie and David had tried many other fitness programs before, including aerobics, boot camp, triathlons, working out at the gym and simply running. David introduced Susie to CrossFit as he had done it while in the US Navy. After several years, they decided to open their own gym to help others.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing someone achieve a personal record on a distance of running, weight loss, muscle gain, a deadlift or backsquat is so rewarding. Having someone tell you that you helped them get off medication and you've introduced them to a healthier life (and saving their lives) makes it all worth it.
