Now a traditional Japanese food, sushi originated when samurai would wrap themselves in armor made from rice in order to protect their bodies and, more importantly, avoid hunger during battle. Nosh on delicious protective gear with today's Groupon to 7 Seas Sushi Lounge, Sports Bar & Grill, located in Garden Grove. Choose between the following options:
- For $15, you get $30 worth of Japanese fare, sushi, and drinks for dinner (after 3 p.m.).
- For $10, you get $20 worth of Japanese fare and drinks for lunch (11 a.m.–3 p.m.).
Half upscale sushi restaurant and half sports lounge, 7 Seas serves both Japanese and Western fare from within its exposed-brick walls. During dinner hours, Western staples including Cajun hot wings ($5.95), beef sliders ($7.95), or fish 'n' chips ($5.95+) prepare culinary travelers for an assortment of Eastern delicacies. Instead of having to travel to faraway islands inhabited by monocle-and-top-hat-wearing tortoises, adventurous eaters can explore 7 Seas' exotic dishes, such as roasted quail ($12.95) and steamed sea snails ($12.95), or curries made with alligator, rabbit, or wild boar ($9.95–$14.95). Others may prefer more traditional grilled fare, such as a pork chop served with fried yams, cole slaw, and soy sauce ($14.95). The sushi menu includes mainstays such as eel and spicy tuna rolls ($8.95 each) as well as more obscure options, including the lillipop, which wraps cucumber skin around yellowtail, salmon, whitefish, and asparagus ($13.95).
For lunch, diners can partake of the beef or salmon teriyaki with mixed stir-fried vegetables served over rice, or the tuna bowl, topped with 7 Seas’ special sauce ($9.95). Miso soup makes a soothing complement to plates of barbecue beef ribs ($8.95) or chicken teriyaki ($7.95), also served with salad, rice, and one of several sushi rolls or dumplings.
