Q:

Hi there, I noticed on your website a class for alterations. I'm wondering if I bought 1 beginner class and 2 intermediate classes (3 being limit per person) might I use one intermediate toward Construction Class and the other toward the Alterations Class you offer? Thanks and congrats on the success of your offer.

A:

the classes offered on GROUPON are not interchangeable . What GROUPON is offering is a really great start. - there is not a current groupon offered for GARMENT ALTERATION - Garment Alterations can be purchased directly by contacting 8 LIMBS at 213-353-0149 . Garment Alterations is $120 and it's a 3 hour class offered in one 3 hour session . Thank you . Erika

Q:

I vaguely know how to use a sewing machine. I can thread the machine, but I'd really like to skip the beginner class. Would the intermediate class be overwhelming if I decide to skip the beginner class?

Nora C.  asked on  Mar 22, 2012

A:

because you said "Vaguely" I would recommend SEWING MACHINE OPERATION . It would be ideal to say you know how to operate a sewing machine before taking the INTRO TO CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION CLASS . If you know how to operate a sewing machine and thread a machine then the INTRO TO CLOTHING CLASS is perfect. Let me know if you have other questions Erika

The link on the company website for the class schedule has a PDF for enrollment but I don't see where it says when the classes are held. Are these weekday? Weeknight? Weekend?

Q:

I looked on your website for the class schedule, but did not see one, maybe I didn't look in the right place. Here are my questions: When are classes usually held? What times are they usually held? Is there parking space? If I bought two (one for me , one for my sister) would we be able to take classes together? Sorry for the 20questinos...Thanks! Gia

Gia  asked on  Mar 22, 2012

A:

Taking the class with a friend is a perfect idea .We hold classes on the weekends and offer evening classes too . Street parking is available and typically the weekend classes start at 10AM and evening classes start at 7 PM . Let me know if you have other questions . Erika

Q:

The intermediate class sounds better for me as I have been sewing for years and have made some of my own garments. That said, I have never taken a basics course and am not really proficient with all the stitch types, etc. I also have limited time because of my work schedule so don't have 6 hours to dedicate. Will the intermediate class review any basics at all?

wendy p.  asked on  Mar 22, 2012

A:

INTRO TO CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION is a 4 hour class but we break it down into 2 two hour sessions . If you already know how to thread a sewing machine - INTRO TO CLOTHING CONS. is a great place to start. If you already know how to build clothing I suggest BUILDING REVERSIBLE -( an advance construction class) . Let me know if that answer helps or if you have other questions . WE do review some basic machine know how in all the classes offered . Thank you . Erika

Q:

I see you can buy three, plus a good many more for gifts. That makes it seem like you could buy one of each of the deals, the beginner, intermediate, and advanced. But when I try to do that, it only allows me to buy three of one kind. Why would I want three beginner classes? I want one of each. Can I do it?

Lisa B.  asked on  Mar 22, 2012

A:

You should be able to purchase one of each class . if your having a problem buying one of each please contact me at info@8-limbs.com and I can direct you to my GROUPON MANGER "Gina" she can help us figure out the glitch - if there is one. Thank you Erika
