Choose Between Two Options

The three- to five-hour concealed-firearm-permit course is held at the Parma Rod and Gun Club. The classroom portion covers firearms safety, Utah state code, deadly force, and defensive mindset and qualifies students to apply for a Utah concealed-firearm permit. The Utah permit is honored in several states, including Idaho, and A&M Shooting Academy can equip participants with pictures and papers needed to apply for the permit.

The two-hour introductory handgun class course covers firearm safety, nomenclature, and firearm storage and security. The range portion teaches students how to inspect handguns, as well as marksmanship fundamentals and how to perform a reload. Students should bring their own gun or reserve a gun for rental in advance ($25–$45 per rental with ammo).

About A&M Shooting Academy

A competitive shooter since he was a teenager, Mike Wirth began teaching responsible firearms operations during college. Between bouts of studying for his degree in mechanical engineering, he showed friends and classmates the firearms basics, such as marksmanship fundamentals, proper cleaning and storage, and how to smelt each bullet by hand.

Now teamed with business partner Aaron Goodfellow, Wirth continues training clients in responsible armed defense. On the outdoor ranges shared with Parma Rod and Gun Club, he and Goodfellow lead classes focused on handgun operations, teaching guests skills from swapping magazines to courteous behaviors when on the range.
