Invisalign straightens teeth with a series of clear, removable, and custom aligners. The process begins at the dentist’s office, where, during an initial exam, the doctor snaps x-rays and takes impressions of the upper and lower teeth. In the Invisalign lab, technicians craft a set of transparent aligners made to the patient’s exact specifications. Patients wear the removable aligners for 6–18 months, changing them every two weeks and only removing them while eating or brushing.
Throughout the treatment, patients return to the dentist’s office for routine checkups to ensure teeth continue to shift into their proper places. Read the Invisalign FAQs here.

About A Reason to Smile
Located in the heart of Boise, A Reason to Smile combines state-of-the-art technology with sensitivity to patients' needs, helping to give patients a bright, healthy smile. The practice is headed by Dr. Craig Smith, who became Idaho’s first Premier Invisalign provider in 2006 and currently resides in the top 5% of Invisalign practitioners in North America. In order to keep pearly whites in peak condition and beautify smiles, Dr. Smith combines the knowledge gained from advanced course work with advanced technology such as the DiagnoDent laser tool, which can locate even the smallest cavity hidden in the tooth and boil water from 200 feet away. He also employs Cerec technology to create custom-fit ceramic restorations with 3-D-imaging software, salivary DNA tests to screen for gum disease, and sedation dentistry to make trips to the dentist as relaxing as a nap on milkweed floss.
