Q:

Do you guys accept VSP vision plan ? I get $150 towards frames from that plan and have $25 copay for prescription glasses. So the questions is can i use that $150 + $200(as mentioned in $39 option) towards buying a frame/prescription glasses ? Not sure how it will work if you accept VSP plan.

Q:

hi! if i opt for the 39$ deal, i just bring the prescription from the eye doctor's office and can choose a pair of any reading glasses up to $200 or pay the difference above, correct? just never done this before so wondering if you accept doctor's scripts from outside your office. secondly if i find that i don't need glasses to solve by issue, can i give the certificate to a friend. thank you

j r.  asked on  Jan 17, 2013

A:

Hi JR, yes, you can bring an outside valid (usually within one year from exam date) RX to fill your prescription. You can pay the difference between the GroupOn value and your eyeglass purchase price. If you find that you will not need glasses, yes, please give the voucher to someone that can use it. Please put a statement that you are giving it as a gift and sign the voucher.

Q:

Does the eye exam include the more modern version that scans your retina, or the general old fashion one of 'A or B'? If I buy this, and then wanted to get frames and transition lenses, or something else, would I be able to pay the difference above and beyond my Groupon value?

Brandon S.  asked on  Jan 17, 2013

A:

Hi Brandon, Any good eye glass refraction includes both an objectice (retina scan) and subjective (A or B) portion, but it always includes the subjective portion. The subjective portion is the way to make sure the brain likes what the eyes see. We do the objective portion slightly differently, a test called retinoscopy. We find with this method, we get much more accurate prescriptions. We do have different type of retinal scan that is used to evaluate the retina in more detail, which is outside the routine exam portion, but covered by medical insurance if warranted. If your purchase is more than the Groupon value, yes, you can pay the difference.
