A Chat with AA Bar Studios
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I am a professional actor, filmmaker, and acting coach, I have worked professionally in and outside of New York City. I have a MFA in classical acting from the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, and I specialize in audition prep for college auditions and professional callbacks.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Most of my students come to coaching sessions with material they are being asked to prepare for an upcoming audition. For those students that are interested in finding material for an upcoming audition, I help with the selection of monologues and scenes.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
As a professional actor myself, I know how difficult this business can be. I want every actor to have all the tools necessary to nail their audition every time. When one of my students books the job or gets into the right school I am inspired.
What do you love most about your job?
There is nothing more thrilling to me than when one of my students nails it. I call it the “ahhh” or the “drop in” moment. It is the moment when the student knows the text and their character so intimately and gives themselves over to the moment so completely that everything else disappears.
