A Chat with Abadá Capoeira Florida
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We have been training and sharing the benefits of capoeira with Florida for over 8 years. Abadá Capoeira Florida is led by instructor Xodó, who has trained in capoeira for over 29 years. We are a non-profit group whose main objective is to promote capoeira and Brazilian culture.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Every new student will learn how to properly stretch your body to prepare for training. After the first class the new student will have learned the technique behind ginga, as well as basic esquivas (blocks) used in capoeira. It’s recomended to use comfortable clothes, and preferably white.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The art of capoeira, like the chameleon, seeks change as a way to preserve its own essence. Abada Capoeira is a non-profit group whose main objective is to promote capoeira and Brazilian culture, and to use it as an example for social integration and individual growth.
What do you love most about your job?
Class exercises are developed on interval training patterns: cardiovascular sequences mixed with body weight resistance exercises, and periods of active recovery. The result is an exciting combination of aerobic endurance, functional strength, and complex agility.
