Autumn heralds the advent of Abbey Farms' Pumpkin Daze, a festival that peppers 300 acres of idyllic farmland with games, tractor rides, and other family-friendly diversions. A corn maze weaves around hibernating scarecrows through 10 acres of corn, and tractor hayrides trundle past more than 120 acres of pine trees, spruce trees, and replanted car air fresheners. Tykes aged 12 and younger can command pedal-powered go-karts or escape gravity's clutches at the bounce houses. Complimentary Red Rider wagons avail themselves for transporting freshly plucked pumpkins, and guidebooks for interpreting the gourds' facial expressions are available for an additional fee.
As dusk settles across the rolling farmland, patrons can light their way through the corn maze by flashlight or give pasty marshmallows a golden tan over bonfires. Abbey Farms also populates a seasonal store with handmade weaving, fresh apples, and artwork crafted by the Abbey's Marmion monks.

About Abbey Farms of Marmion Abbey
For more than 70 years, the monks of Marmion Abbey have tended 300 acres of farmland. They started with Christmas trees, and now maintain 120 acres of pines, spruces, and firs that smell exactly like car freshener. On the remaining acres, they tend pumpkin vines and corn mazes, interspersing these areas with scenic groves. they are one of the largest corn mazes in Chicagoland area.
Throughout the year, the monks open their land to the public. In the autumn, they host Pumpkin Daze, a harvest festival with tractor wagon rides and a petting zoo. Around mid-November, they grant access to their tree farm, supplying visitors with rental saws for you-cut trees and bellowing "Timber!" just like Paul Bunyan did when he fell into bed at night. The monks stock their farm store with family-friendly products from local artists and handcrafted goods that complement the season, such as caramel apples in the fall.
