About ABC Kite Fest 2022

ABC Kite Fest 2022 As the longest running annual kite festival in the United States, the ABC KITE FEST has been an Austin family tradition since 1929. The day-long fest is packed with fun activities for all ages, including the traditional kite-flying contest and showcase, a children concert and pet zone. Read on for more festival highlights.

  • VIP Hospitality: The High Flyer Club presented by Texas Mutual—located within Zilker Park—will remain open throughout the festival and features a delicious catered breakfast, and lunch as well as afternoon snacks. Along with other comforts and exclusive access, experiences and entertainment, members of the High Flyer Club can enjoy access to VIP parking, lounge seating, complimentary food, and comfort stations. Children age 9 or younger receive free admission with a ticketed adult.

  • The kites: The Kite Showcase & Contest: Attendees show off their hand-made creations during the fest's kite-flying contest where they vie for titles like "Steadiest Kite" or "Most Unusual Kite" while large kite flyers perform a kite showcase.

  • Entertainment: At MossFest, the event's on-site children's music festival, kids, and parents alike boogie to acts like Mr. Will and The Tiarras. Meanwhile, at the Kids Club, younger guests busy themselves at face-painting stations, kite-making stations, and bounce houses. Pet owners will enjoy an off leash area for their furry friends complete with a pet playground.

  • For a good cause: Originally founded as a way to foster children's creativity, the festival continues that tradition by gifting its proceeds to Communities in Schools and Moss Pieratt Foundation.
