Nobody by C. Robert Jones shines a light on the life of Bert Williams, the first African-American to have a leading role on Broadway. At Williams' height, he was one of the pre-eminent Vaudeville era entertainers in the nation, often ironically donning blackface to sensational effect. This Academy Theatre production traces his life's milestones -- from immigrating to the States from the Bahamas to his minstrel show performances to his rise to Broadway fame. When the play opens at the Hapeville Performing Arts Center, you'll learn more about the turn-of-the-century star who W.C. Fields once called, "the funniest man I ever saw and the saddest man I ever knew."
This show is suitable for audience members ages 12 and up.
