Artistic expression can take the form of a vibrant painting, a stunning sculpture, or front-yard hedges trimmed into the shape of longing. Let creativity blossom with today's Groupon: for $75, you get a three-hour Fundamentals of Fusing glassworking workshop for two at Accents In Glass in Rye, New Hampshire (a $150 value).
At Accents in Glass, budding artists can spend three hours absorbing fusing techniques, glass-cutting skills, and kiln operation into their artistic lexicon through hands-on experience. Instructor and experienced artist Christina Eadie shepherds creative impulses from the grassy knolls of students' minds to the steel-wool factories of tangibility, beginning with a guided selection of materials and culminating with the creation of a 4”x4” work of art made from tools provided in-studio. Up to ten students discover the meaning of trade terms such as frit, noodles, and stringers while crafting a coaster, tile, or aesthetically arresting frisbee by hand. Following the session, students will possess the skills required to create more complex fused fare such as clocks and bowls, and finished projects can be picked up a week after class. Check the calendar for upcoming workshops.
