The class was intimate and informative. I learned a lot about glass that didn't realize! It was a fun and creative experience. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to heading back now that I have Fundamentals in Glass under my belt and creating another glass project.

There's so much more to glass fusing than I anticipated (my first experience ever). The teacher presented a lot of information in a very interesting and coherent manner during the the three-hour session. I learned so much, including how much more there is to learn!

I signed up with a friend and really had no idea what to expect...and I ended having the best time! I can't wait to get my finished project.

What You'll Get

Artists always want muses without realizing they are a big responsibility, demanding regular walks, a ticket to every sunset, and smoothies made of old pastels and greek yogurt. Cultivate your creativity an easier way with today's Groupon to Accents in Glass in Portsmouth. Choose between the following options:

• For $35, you get a Fundamentals of Fusing glass class (a $75 value).
• For $65, you get a Fundamentals of Fusing class and a Fusing Night workshop (a $100 value).

Accents in Glass teaches amateur crafters the art of glass manipulation, instructing them in the cutting, fusing, and soldering of stunning silica pieces. Veteran glassworker Christina Eadie leads the intimate classes, which are capped at 10 students each to ensure optimum student-teacher interaction. In the three-hour Fundamentals of Fusing class, pupils construct two 4-inch square fused tiles. Students first pick out small pieces of glass before cutting and combining them into an artistic whole that is greater than the sum of its parts, much like a ragtag high-school debate team or Voltron. The resulting artwork is perfect for use as tiles, coasters, and wall hangings, lending homes or gym lockers a touch of glassy class. The basic skills learned in the session are easily applicable to the creation of larger pieces as well as jewelry, bowls, trays, and other objets d'art. After the class, students' work is kept for a week to undergo full-glass maturation, attaining permanent physical form in the kiln's flame and dealing with the psychological trauma of receiving "the talk" before they remerge to be picked up and enjoyed by their makers.

The Fusing Night workshop encourages graduated glasscutters to sample a slew of new topics after successful completion of the fundamentals course. Participants get free reign over tools, materials, and a 6" x 6" slab of kiln space, all used to meld glass pieces into compositions artistic enough to don two-dimensional berets and not be a spy. Students can check the calendar before reserving their spot.
