ACT’s celebratory 50th anniversary season rolls on with an exciting world-premiere play set in Dublin, against the backdrop of James Joyce’s groundbreaking modernist novel Ulysses. Penned by ACT favorite Steven Dietz (Halcyon Days, Becky’s New Car), Bloomsday is described as “a moving and sometimes heartbreaking comedy,” about a man who sets out to find a long-lost love, leading to a look at the different paths their lives have taken. The play was commissioned by ACT and workshopped in 2014 as part of their renowned Icicle Creek New Play Festival. This production at the Allen Theatre marks the eleventh time a work by the award-winning Dietz has appeared on the company’s mainstage, making him their most favored living writer.
