Early rural dwellers wrote and performed country music to expose their sorrows, celebrate their joys, and commemorate historic Yahtzee victories. Celebrate harmonic history with today's Groupon: for $44, you get a single-day general admission ticket to Mountainfest in Merritt (an $89 value). The festival takes place Thursday, July 7 through Sunday, July 10.
Mountainfest's massive country music festival thrills outdoor ears from three stages on the banks of Coldwater River. Visitors clutching general admission tickets can hear jangling guitars, wandering warbles, and grocery-list recitations from main stage artists such as Mike Gouchie, Joe Nichols, and Crystal Shawanda. Each day's lineup also showcases a slew of chord sorcerers at two smaller festival venues, Pump House Saloon and Little Big Stage, as well as inter-venue acts. After the last note wafts across the concert stages and catches a cab home safely, festivities continue with live entertainment and a house DJ's record-dizzying tactics in the beer garden until 2 a.m.
Guests can begin their festival day activities with a breakfast buffet, which dishes up made-to-order omelettes as well as a plucky roster of muffins, fruits, and cereals from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Music fans can also delve into onsite activities—indulging in riverside exploration and taking in helicopter sight-seeing tours (not included with this Groupon), or tackling giant fretboard obstacle courses in music boot camp. Mountainfest also offers plentiful camping grounds along the east and west sides of Coldwater River. Mountainfest provides on-site day parking, and Groupon customers may upgrade the value of this deal to a weekend pass at time of reservation.
