About Addie Kania, Hypnotherapist
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? I offer Hypnosis services for a variety of issues from smoking cessation, to weight loss, self-esteem, fear of flying, Pre-surgery Hypnosis to name but a few. What makes me different is I am also an addiction counselor, and E.F.T and Tong Reng practitioner, and also teach Mindfulness techniques (a practicing Buddhist for over 40 years). I am also an author, teacher and presenter and faculty member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. As well as a creator of numerous Hypnosis CDs.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business? The short answer is Hypnosis helped me to quit cigarettes. I was hopelessly addicted. Even through my logical mind hated them and my health suffered—and even though I took the logical steps to quit they all proved to be ineffective. I was deeply frustrated and felt like a failure. I was a Psychology student at Indiana University, when I meet a Hypnotist who helped me to stop smoking when all else hade failed. I was finally free! He explained, and I know from basic psychology, that the root of all habits reside within the subconscious mind, and until they are addressed the habit more often than not will reemerge. He then through our conversations inspired me to learn hypnosis and become certified, and to help others do the same. Later, I went on to also get my certification as an addiction counselor. I then created a 4 session Weight Loss program for my clients, wrote a book, and teach my techniques a 4 Step Hypno-Behavioral Weight Loss Program at the National Guild of Hypnotists to an international audience. I am also a faculty member of the NGH.
What do you love most about your job? The operative word here is really LOVE. It is an honor and a privilege to help facilitate positive and healthy change in my clients lives. We are all here to learn from each other. I learn so much from my clients, and I feel I am always learning and growing from my interaction with them and seek the best for them.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer? “You helped to save my life!” (Smoking Cessation client) “I felt so calm and relaxed before I went into surgery and used healing imagery to surround me…the nurses were so surprised that I was walking around so soon after surgery.” (Pre-Surgery Hypnosis for double Mastectomy client). “I feel so much more in control of my food and weight. My relationship with food and my body image is so much healthier---and I feel great!). *Also, look at my website, as one of my client’s lost over 100lbs seen in Eagle Tribune newspaper.
