He who laughs last laughs best, unless he doesn't finish laughing before the funeral starts. Empty your chuckle reservoirs in an appropriate setting with today's Groupon for one ticket to see Bill Bowers in It Goes Without Saying at the Adirondack Theatre Festival, held at The Charles R. Wood Theater in downtown Glens Falls, about 50 miles north of Albany.
Since the 2003 premiere at ATF, Bowers and his autobiographical show have toured the country, delighting audiences with a barrage of comical chronicles, such as his psychic father-son bonding experience or the time Miss Montana vomited on him. The title and many of the show's thematic nuances stem from Bowers' career as a mime, a trade which puts a great deal of importance on using hand gestures and body language to communicate things like "I'm pulling a rope," "I'm in love with this girl," and "I was rejected by my top pick for grad school." - But that’s the tricky thing about “It Goes Without Saying”: just as its theme becomes clear, it goes off on another track. That is the source of its vitality. – Anita Gates, New York Times
- It's soon clear that Bowers also likes to talk. And be assured that he has quite a lot to say that is touching, funny, sad and worth sharing. – Simon Saltzman, CurtainUp
