What You'll Get
Running was popular in Europe long before it caught on in America, which is why most races are measured in kilometers instead of miles and why most of the Pilgrims were eaten by bears. Race to the top of the food chain with today's Groupon to the Santa Hustle Smokies half marathon and 5K sponsored by Adrenaline Sports Management on Sunday, December 11, at 9 a.m. in Sevierville. Choose between the following options:
- For $17, you get entrance to the Santa Hustle Smokies 5K (a $35 value).
- For $27, you get entrance to the Santa Hustle Smokies half marathon (a $55 value).
Adrenaline Sports Management welcomes winter with the Santa Hustle Smokies half marathon and 5K, a frosty contest run by a hoard of jogging Santa Clauses. Each runner receives a complimentary Santa hat and beard that they are encouraged to wear during the race to conceal their identities and strike fear into the hearts of competitors who've been naughty this year. Starting and ending at the Smokies Hotel & Waterpark Resort, streets shine with holiday decorations as speakers blast Christmas music along the 13.1- and 3.1-mile circuits. During the race, throngs of St. Nicholai pound the pavement in their free long-sleeve running shirts, timed by a disposable ChampionChip distributed in participants’ packets instead of tracking tags welded around their ankles.
The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive a customized Santa Hustle medal, all half-marathon participants carry home their own finisher's medal, and the best group and individual Santa costume wearers get a ride home with a pack of flying reindeer. Post-race, runners can join their fellow jolly elves at the Santa Hustle after party for drinks, conversation, and chimney-scaling competitions.
