Stan’s Donut 5K
Based on tradition and reinvention, Stan Berman opened his first donut shop in Los Angeles in 1963. At the same time, across the country, Rich Labriola was using his passion for bread baking to bring beloved goods to devout patrons at his Chicagoland area bakery. One day, Rich reached out to Stan after seeing him on a travel show and the two became fast friends, forming a bond based on their shared passion. In 2014, this bond became backbone to Stan’s Donuts & Coffee, the Chicago-based shop paying homage to Stan’s classics.
Stan’s Donuts is proud to sponsor this 5K, as proceed will go towards fighting hunger and community nourishment through Greater Chicago Food Depository.
- The Start: Donut-enthusiasts young and old will make their way towards the lake on Saturday, August 10th. Adults will gear up to run a timed 5K alongside the lakeshore, while younger racers take off for the half-mile kids’ dash.
- The Middle: Participants will cruise down Lakeshore toward McCormick Place, fueling up on sugar-coated energy with donuts from Stan’s Donut throughout the course.
-
The End: After crossing the finish line, all participants will receive a dri-fit shirt, a donut-shaped finisher medal, and, of course, a delicious donut - which can be paired with a High Brew Cold Brew Coffee at the finish line.
- Check-in time and location: 6:30 p.m.-8:15 a.m. at Soldier Field under white tents
- Race start time: 8 a.m.
