Adrift Adventures, an authorized concessionaire of the National Park Service, has safely guided adventurers on Dinosaur National Monument rafting trips for over 30 years. The four-day river excursion draws paddlers down the Green River along the same 44-mile route that explorer John Wesley Powell and his crew traveled down in 1869 when searching the Lodore Canyon for singing ferns. The trip commences with a shuttle from the facility to the put-in point, dubbed the Gates of Lodore, which is followed by a safety orientation. Rafters and their guides then set off on a journey where they'll float past geological specimens, flora, and fauna of the canyons located in Dinosaur National Monument. Experience the thrills of rapids such as Hell's Half Mile and Split Mountain Gorge, leisurely periods of floating over areas such as the 2,000-foot-deep Whirlpool Canyon, and optional hikes and wildlife and geological tours for chances to see Native American rock art and bowling alleys.
Each night, guides will help you set up camp at wilderness sites, remote beaches, and wilds, complete with portable bathroom facilities and a mobile kitchen. On the fourth day, trip-goers will arrive at the river take-out in the afternoon, where they will be shuttled back to the Adrift facility. Consult the gear checklist before embarking on the adventure.
An authorized concessionaire of the National Park Service in Dinosaur National Monument, Adrift Adventures takes rafters of all skill levels into fast-paced waters on multinight excursions in the wilderness. Guides lead one- to five-day trips into the tranquil and roaring waterways of the Yampa, Green, floating in the shadow of canyons sculpted by erosion over millions of years. As rafts round each aquatic bend and rocky façade, guides point out sights such as Native American rock art and local wildlife. When appropriate, the expert crew can safely guide rafters through Class III and higher rapids, adding adrenaline to otherwise scenic and educational voyages. During intervals on the area's scenic shorelines, guides also lead short hikes and help adventurers camp along the roadless wilderness.
