Welcome to Groupon San Francisco! For our inaugural deal, $15 gets you a bay cruise with Adventure Cat. That’s a relaxing 90-minute sail through the bay on a catamaran for 50% off the regular $30 price.
You're probably thinking, "That sounds great, but I've never bought a car or a computer without first reading the Wikipedia definitions for car and computer—I'm not about to buy a Groupon either without a briefing." Since this is everyone's first Groupon, we'll briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of San Francisco: restaurants, spas, theater, events, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power"!
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (20 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll get a printable gift certificate in your inbox the next morning that you can use whenever you want (well, at least until the deal expires—today's expires in one year). If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
It's nice to wake up to something new every day. Some people get their daily fix from desk calendars with a cute puppy and a funny caption every morning. Groupon is like a desk calendar, except the puppy is an unbeatable discount and the funny caption is a profound reflection on the flowers and needles growing from life's cactus. We selflessly share our deep insights, hoping that you will join our mob of consumers, thus strengthening our collective buying power and commanding even better deals.
With today’s Groupon, $15 gets you a bay cruise with Adventure Cat (that’s 50% off the normal $30 price). This 90-minute sail in the San Francisco Bay is a great way to see the city’s magnificent skyline and take close-up looks at Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Adventure Cat uses catamarans to ensure a smooth sail (two hulls are better than one). Book your 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. cruise in advance, then head down to Pier 39. Make sure to bring a jacket, soft-soled shoes, and cash or a credit card to buy drinks and snacks onboard. You’re guaranteed to have a good time, whether you’re relaxing in the heated cabin or getting a little wet out on the trampoline platforms between the hulls. Sailing season ends in November, so we recommend going on a warm summer afternoon.
- “An excellent experience! The Adventure Cat fleet appeared completely seaworthy, spotless from stem to stern, and the Captain and his "first officer" were very polite and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs and speaking with their guests. The cash bar was reasonably priced. What a thrill it was to hold our drinks up and wave, wind in our hair, at the passers-by who stared bleakly, nay longingly, from behind the faded, yellowed plexiglass windows of the diesel ferry they chose to ride. Adventure Cat was fantastic!” – Robert B., Yelp
- “There's nothing to beat the exhilaration of being on open water, feeling the wind and sea in your face, the rush of the ocean, watching the sales flap and catch the sun set as you sail under the Golden Gate Bridge with friends you love!” – Amit S., Yelp
- “The views are spectacular, the crew is really cool, and the boat is big and safe. Can't wait to do it again next year during the heat spell!” –shmisti, Citysearch
What about old-fashioned print media? They’ve got some nice things to say about Adventure Cat, too.
