Hi Dr Brecht, My question pertains to the "Fainting and Dizziness" patients experience post lipo? How common is this side effect what is it due to? Is there a large fluid shift? What type of sedation do you administer? I have nursed two friends back to 100% post procedure and the last experience put quite a big fear in my mind as I am considering the same area Abdomen! Is severe dizziness and fainting a given? This is a big barrier for me as I am really apprehensive of having to experience a fainting spell as did both my friends. Is there any way to avoid this side effect or eliminate from happening? Thanks in advance for the information Shanna

We do not have problems with fainting and dizziness with our tumescent local technique, but I can't vouch for other Dr's techniques. Everyone after liposuction has been awake, alert, comfortable immediately post procedure. Patients are self ambulating immediately post procedure and are all walking 1-2 miles starting the next day. We can talk about it more during your consult visit.
