Q:

Hi Dr Brecht, My question pertains to the "Fainting and Dizziness" patients experience post lipo? How common is this side effect what is it due to? Is there a large fluid shift? What type of sedation do you administer? I have nursed two friends back to 100% post procedure and the last experience put quite a big fear in my mind as I am considering the same area Abdomen! Is severe dizziness and fainting a given? This is a big barrier for me as I am really apprehensive of having to experience a fainting spell as did both my friends. Is there any way to avoid this side effect or eliminate from happening? Thanks in advance for the information Shanna

A:

We do not have problems with fainting and dizziness with our tumescent local technique, but I can't vouch for other Dr's techniques. Everyone after liposuction has been awake, alert, comfortable immediately post procedure. Patients are self ambulating immediately post procedure and are all walking 1-2 miles starting the next day. We can talk about it more during your consult visit.

Q:

Is there a limit of how much fat transfer amount can be transferred per breast? Can I expect to go up a cup size?

Vicky R.  asked on  Apr 22, 2013

A:

There is not a limit on how much fat can be transferred to the breasts, a cup size increase is very reasonable, assuming we have enough fat to liposuction for a transfer.

Q:

Dr. Brecht, I am very interested in getting this done with either the 3 or 4 liposuction area as well as the fat transfer into the breast area. I am NOT comfortable being awake during all this. Is there a way that I can be put out/under for the procedure? I would assume there would be an additional cost, can you give me an idea or guesstimate as to how much that might be? Thank you, Jennifer

Jennifer R.  asked on  Apr 19, 2013

A:

We can certainly get you in a state of twilight where you are sleeping, without the risks of general anesthesia. There would be no additional charge for this. Please schedule a complimentary consult to discuss your specific needs. Thank you, Dr Brecht

Q:

What happens to the skin after you the liposuction? I've lost weight and my lower tummy drapes down. I would love to get liposuction down in that area, but I'm afraid my tummy will drape down even more so.

Estela C.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

Healthy people have great skin retraction ability after the fat has been removed. Please schedule a complimentary consult to discuss your personal needs. Thank you, Dr Brecht

Q:

Hello, I have one more question to ask, In case I am not a right ( I mean after the initial appointment with the doctor ) candidate for the surgery will I get a refund? I have this question because I don't know what result can doctor promise in my case, or may be there will be other health related reasons. Also, can the surgery be scheduled ofter the 90 days? Thank you.

Yuliya M.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

If for some reason we need too, a full refund is offered. See the Groupon for details. As long as you do the preop within 90 days your surgery can be scheduled after this time, to fit your schedule.

Q:

I will be traveling over 3 hours for these procedures, what is the typical follow up timeframe and how many are necessary? Is it possible to have the consult and pre-op labs completed on the same visit if it is determined that I'm a candidate?

Christina W.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

We have patients from Canada to California, and can make your appointments as efficient as you would like. Yes, we can combine consult/preop and labs all in one visit.

Q:

I bought both the 2 and 4 treatment area option for a total of 6 areas as the groupon said I could purchase 2. I will be using both for me. It says one groupon per visit. What does this mean and is it recommended to do all 6 areas at ones?

Christina W.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

Congradulations! 6 sites can be safely done in one procedure. We can talk more about your concerns during our preop visit.

Q:

1. Is it possible to learn ahead of purchase of any criteria or other restrictions that would negate certain individuals from the lipo procedure? Eg: cannot be more than a certain BMI, must be below a certain weight, must have attempted to lose weight on own? 2. What is the size of an 'area'? If I was to look into tummy and gut is there a limit on the width of the section?

Jennifer c.  asked on  Apr 17, 2013

A:

Jenifer C. I see you have put lots of thought into the liposuction procedure. It is a very safe procedure, any BMI is ok, any weight is ok. Tummy is upper and lower (two sites), love handles L/R (two sites) regardless of your BMI. Please arrange for a personalized consult 206-444-5014 Thank you Dr Brecht

Q:

What is considered an area: Two inner thighs or one? Are Upper & lower inner thighs considered one area? What are the dimensions of an area? Does a large tummy pouch cost the same as a small tummy? Will fat transfer to my upper bosom leave any scars?

Janet V.  asked on  Apr 17, 2013

A:

You have lots of very good questions. Both inner (upper) thighs is one area, but when we meet you can discuss your additional specific concerns. I don't charge a different fee for large or small tummy's. Fat transfer is a great way to volumize the breasts, with minimal scarring. Two tiny openings one for each side are used, the openings are so small, I rarely need a stitch, and they heal great!
