Art collectors protect their pictures the same way that crime bosses discipline their children—by having them framed. Guard your pictures before they take a fall with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of custom framing, artwork, and more at Affordable Framing.
The dedicated framesmiths at Affordable Framing draw upon 20-plus years of encapsulation expertise to box in unruly art and photography. The shop’s stock includes more than 60,000 feet of moulding, tons of glass, and thousands of mat-board sheets in materials such as suede, parchment, and mid-'80s Garfield strips to keep wall hangings comfortably occupied. Premade frames ranging from 5”x7” to 24”x36” ($10–$50) are available in a panoply of sizes and styles, and custom framing ($25–$300) services encase artwork or box in keepsake objects. A selection of preframed gallery artwork ($20–$300) and a stock of hundreds of prints and posters ($35 on average) decorate walls and conceal the entry paths of driver-less Dodge Shadows. The store also stocks a wealth of gifts and jewelry to keep the shop's roster of impressive clients as beautified as their walls.
Six preserved tarantulas, a 6-foot puzzle of The Last Supper, and a full-length pro baseball uniform: Affordable Framing can—and has—framed them all. Since 1987, the McVey family has sought out dedicated staffers to help build custom frames from their inventory of more than 60,000 feet of moulding, thousands of sheets of matting, and tons of UV protective glass. They also inspire home decorators with preframed pieces and prints from local artists. Affordable Framing also has experience with corporate framing projects, including work for the Salem Hospital and the Oregon Military Department, in addition to numerous retirement facilities.
