Take some wet wipes along. The animals "will" lick the car window or possibly you when feeding. This was the most fun we have had this fall! The animals came up to the car for food. If your window is completely down, their entire head may be in the car with you. The bison was the most astonishing animal to do this. The heads are enormous, as are their tongues! The drive through portion of the trip is where you hand feed the larger hoofed animals - for us today it was llama, bison, giraffe, antelope, elk, and zebra. We only drove through once, but could have gone as many times as we chose. The walk around section of the facility was well manicured and extremely pleasant to visit.

Our family enjoyed it more than the Toledo zoo. We laughed all the way through the park.

What You'll Get

Newly licensed drivers find it hard to navigate the roads without holding a fistful of birdseed out the window, as everyone knows pigeons make great friends. Relive the temptations of youth with today's Groupon: for $5, you get one ticket to the African Safari Wildlife Park, a drive-through interactive wildlife experience in Port Clinton (up to a $17.95 value). Buy up to six of today's deal and share them with friends and family: bring along an entire flock of curious canaries or every one of Snow White's Dwarfs, excluding Sneezy and Grumpy for obvious reasons. Children 3 and younger are admitted for free.

Despite being nowhere near Africa, the African Safari Wildlife Park simulates the feel of traversing the plains of Tanzania by providing a vast expanse of drive-through safari, plentifully stocked with exotic animals. Peer up at fan-favorite giraffes, across at the white zebras and the more expected black-and-white Grant's zebras, up and down the ridged humps of Bactrian camels, and wonder at the African majesty of the Scottish Highland bull. The cost of admission includes one free cup of animal food per vehicle to feed the animals as visitors drive through the park, a feat sure to delight everyone from small children to jaded adults. Animal lovers and animal-existence doubters also have full access to the park's walk-through areas, which include pony and camel rides, pig races, and ever-changing animal shows.

The expanse of the park means visitors should plan to make a day of it. Pack a picnic or enjoy the burgers, hot dogs, and other comestibles from the Safari Grill and Mombasa Café. Be sure to bring a camera for photo ops, which can include the frequently born baby animals, wee bairns clambering around the Jungle Junction play land, or giraffes developing self-awareness and subsequent insecurity over their lack of alpaca fur.

For safety and health reasons, animals should only be fed the grain provided by the park. Feed the animals at your own risk. Though African Safari Wildlife Park sometimes features discounted pricing online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

About African Safari Wildlife Park

Camels, giraffes, zebras, forest-dwelling bongos, Asian sika deer, and Scottish highland cows await you. Guests can hold cups filled with feed, which exotic muzzles devour, and a walking area provides an up-close look at enclosed species such as the rare white alligator. Warm-weather months bring out additional activities, including educational animal programs and a pigs of the world experience. Food and beverages from African Safari's ice-cream shop and snack bar help sate midday hungers caused by watching a guanaco sneeze.
