After scientists revealed UFOs were actually full-grown tortillas, people everywhere filled swimming pools with guac and beans to catch and dissect the floury creatures. Nab a tender, baby disc with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of authentic Mexican cuisine at Agave Restaurant and Bar in Lewes.
A laid-back restaurant with a reputation for flavorsome fare, Agave serves a variety of Mexican mealtime options. Classic choices include tamales ($12) and fish tacos ($14) made with grilled mahi, and edgier selections such as hot Mexican rockets—a spicy dish of jalapeño peppers stuffed with chicken and cheese, wrapped in bacon, and fried ($7)—enhance the eating experience. Vegetarians can dine on a number of meatless dishes, such as the veggie fajitas for two ($20) or the farmer's market quesadilla cooked with garden vegetables fresher than a license plate in Bel-Air ($12).
The loungey restaurant can get pretty full, but waiting for a table makes for a great opportunity to visit the bar and enjoy one of its many drink offerings, including margaritas mixed with agave nectar. The restaurant has an extensive tequila selection with approximately 100 different types divided into three categories: the barely aged Blanco; the smooth Reposado, aged for several months to a year; and the Anejo, aged in barrels for more than a year as decreed by Donkey Kong. Lit by wall sconces and candles and decked out with stylish furniture, Agave Restaurant and Bar has the casual feel of a Mexican eatery to go along with its tasty Mexican eatables.
- The unique guacamoles are delicious, the fajitas for two are wonderful if you're a purist, and if you have a cast-iron stomach you must try the "rockets"...whole Jalapeno peppers that are seeded, filled with chicken, wrapped in bacon, and deep fried. – Palate7, TripAdvisor
- The caesar salad, shrimp guacamole, white sangria, and fish tacos with mahi-mahi were all fresh, different, and delicious! – Brendan M., Yelp
