Tristin Resinger, the certified massage therapist and licensed aesthetician at Akua Esthetics & Bodywork, tailors spa sessions to customers’ needs, from varying massage pressure to changing the room temperature and type of music playing. During the facial, the aesthetician peers deep into head canvases to help determine skincare goals, such as pores’ New Year’s resolutions to reduce their size. Gentle hands then wield products from either the PCA Skin or Phytomer lines to remove makeup and deeply cleanse the skin. An exfoliation, steam, and extractions oust renegade gunk from crevices and a facial massage eases tense cheek muscles. After a custom treatment mask and replenishing moisturizer, faces emerge refreshed and less likely to scowl at serene, reflective puddles.
To help alleviate fatigue, poor circulation, and stiff joints, Tristin personalizes each massage-therapy session to target problem areas. A fusion of deep-tissue, Swedish, and heat-therapy modalities leaves muscles more mobile than a Slinky in M.C. Escher’s house.
