While traveling back in time to become acquainted with our ancestors requires little more than a flux capacitor and a well-timed bolt of lightning, the difficulty lies in finding a needle large enough to re-stitch the space-time fabric upon return. Seamlessly explore cultural origins with today’s Groupon to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Choose between the following options:

  • For $10, you get two Alaska resident tickets (up to a $19.90 value).
  • For $25, you get two non-Alaska resident tickets (up to a $49.90 value).

The Alaska Native Heritage Center bridges the past and present, preserving and granting insight into the traditions, languages, and rich history of the 49th state’s indigenous people. Visitors enter through a wooded grove outside the center, drinking in the architectural significance of six authentic life-sized dwellings surrounding Lake Tiulana. Enormous whale bones stand at the Inupiaq site, offering a rare photo opportunity and convenient toothpicks for vacationing ogres. Inside the center exhibits and demonstrations entertain and educate as they reveal Alaska Natives' arts and presentations transform the stage into a lively tableau of native dancing and storytelling. Current exhibits in the Hall of Cultures include the Native Ways in Changing Timesphotography display and the Statehood Exhibit for Alaska, where touchscreen videos of Alaska native elders reveal spiritual, physical, and legal relationships between the land and its people.

Visitors fill Alaska Native Heritage Center with life during the summer months, taking advantage of presence of extra daylight and absence of hibernating snowmen. Ancient crafts preserved by contemporary artisans become take-home treasures and last-minute disguises in the gift shop and the Raven’s Call Café sates historic hungers with grilled game meats and fresh seafood.
