Heartbreaking images of refugees fleeing across the water have made impressions in our minds we won't soon forget. One of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time comes a little closer to home at Alberta Rose Theatre, when local actor Bobby Bermea delivers Italian playwright Marco Martinelli's Noise in the Waters -- a homage to the many African migrants who search for a better future by making a treacherous journey across the Mediterranean -- accompanied by original music composed for this reading and performed by Juilliard-trained, Portland-based composer Ryan Anthony Francis. Experience the haunting words and melodies of Noise in the Waters, presented by Boom Arts Global Theatre as part of the Fertile Ground Festival of New Works, which also includes a pre-show lecture.

Event Description:
