Aldo's NY Style Pizza by Venezia's Pizzeria of Rio Rancho
Italian traditions are alive and well in the Venturino family. When Maria and Adolfo came over from Italy in 1964, they spent their first American decade in the Big Apple—so named for the apple-like color of tomato sauce. In 1977, they packed up and moved again, this time to New Mexico, where they became a part of Uncle Frank and Aunt Clara’s burgeoning pizza business.
One generation later, their sons, Renato and Aldo, are in charge of Venezia’s Pizzerias across the Southwest, though Maria still makes the marinara sauce from scratch in Albuquerque. It tops everything from pastas to chicken parmigiana subs, and it accompanies calzones stuffed with a three-cheese blend.

“Aldo's is an AMAZING breath of fresh air in the Albuquerque pizza scene. In a city where the great majority of people refer to Domino's and Pizza Hut as "good" pizza, and wouldn't know good food if it bit them on their behinds, Aldo's is pretty darn good pizza. The slices are full sized as compared to those of another pretender, Dion's, and their calzones are VERY well made and filling. They have any number of lunch and dinner specials running at all times, and nit's a GREAT place to get some wonderful food at a reasonable price. ”
“A slice is very large. I didn't need to order two. ;-)”
“Good, family-run (it seems) friendly, comfortable. ”
