About Ali's Sweet Treats
"Where did you buy these cookies from?" At her daughter Ali's 2nd birthday party in 2002, Andrea Bernal heard that question a lot. The truth was, she didn't buy them from anywhere: after an unsuccessful search turned up zero Sesame Street-themed treats, Andrea decided to make them herself. The response was so positive that, by the end of the year, Ali's Sweet Treats was born.
The bakery opened its first retail location in 2010 in Miami. To this day, it's truly a family business, one where Andrea hand-decorates the treats, her husband, a real frenchman, bakes, and her sister manages the shop. The menu has also expanded well past cookies to include cupcakes, cakes, cake pops, and macarons. Despite its growing inventory, Ali's refuses to ditch its commitment to quality ingredients and cooking practices: the cookies are still made in small batches with real butter and pure vanilla extract, and no cakes ever come straight from a can.
